My freshman year was a struggle to say the least, many ups and downs on and off the field. Learning how to manage my time and prioritize throughout the year was a huge adjustment. Although it was hard I learned a lot of things that I can now carry into this year. One of the most important things I learned and will take with me into my sophomore year is taking care of my body. Lifting and practicing every day takes a huge toll on your body especially if you don't prioritize your health. I got hurt a lot during freshman year because I didn't know how to properly take care of myself. This year I plan to be proactive with taking good care of my muscles, eating right and getting good sleep. This week we started weights and I already feel a huge difference just by making sure I sleep a good 8 hours so my body can recover.
The mental aspect of sports is as crucial as the physical. Practice is the arena where athletes confront challenges, face setbacks, and learn to overcome adversity. It's a testing ground for mental toughness, resilience, and the ability to stay focused under pressure. The confidence gained through overcoming obstacles in practice translates directly to a player's mental fortitude during competitions. https://universitysports.com/n/balancing-sports-academics-and-your-personal-life
